Veterans' Services

The City of Watertown’s Veterans’ Services office is committed to supporting local veterans and their families throughout their lives. Our team works closely with community members to help them understand and access the full range of benefits available through the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. This includes guidance with financial assistance programs, state and federal benefit applications, and resources related to health care, education, housing, and other veteran‑specific services.

We work directly with veterans and dependents to help them navigate the claims process for federal benefits such as disability compensation, survivor assistance, burial and memorial options, and other earned programs. Our goal is to make these systems easier to understand and ensure that residents receive the support they are entitled to.

The office also plays an active role in honoring Watertown’s veterans throughout the year. We partner with community organizations to coordinate local observances on Patriots Day, Veterans Day, and Memorial Day. As part of those traditions, flags are placed on the graves of veterans resting in Watertown’s cemeteries each Memorial Day. We also assist with ceremonies, dedications, and other recognitions that highlight the service and sacrifice of Watertown residents who served in our Armed Forces.
