Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 40, Section 22
Under Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 40, Section 22, vehicles displaying valid disabled veteran or handicap registration plates, or a valid handicap placard, are exempt from fines and penalties for exceeding local parking time limits. This includes exemption from our Overnight Parking Ban, except during declared weather emergencies.
However, disability placards and the special parking privileges associated with disability plates are strictly for the use of the individual to whom they are issued. Misuse of placards can result in fines, revocation of placard privileges, and even license suspension.
